Brief Biography
Shigeki Kuwata was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1969. He received the Dr. Eng.
degree from Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology at the University
of Tokyo in 1997 under the supervision of Professors Masanobu Hidai and
Yasushi Mizobe. Just after that, he joined the faculty of the department (Professors Masanobu Hidai and Youichi Ishii Group).
In 2002, he moved to Tokyo Institute of Technology as an Associate Professor in the group of Professor Takao Ikariya. He was a PRESTO researcher in Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in 2014-2018. In 2022, he became a Full Professor in Ritsumeikan University. He obtained Award for Young Scientists in Coordination
Chemistry, Japan in 2002. His current research interests include:
- Synthesis and reactivities of transition metal complexes bearing nitrogenous
ligands (NOx, NxHy, =NR, pyrazoles, N-heterocyclic carbenes, and so on)
- Rational and designed syntheses of polynuclear and supramolecular metal complexes
- Metal-ligand cooperative organometallic catalysis
